I think the skirt should be equal to or larger than the widest part of the tree. It just looks more balanced that way. Unless you have a narrow tree, it's difficult to find skirts that are wide enough, and they're not ridiculously expensive or overpriced for what they are. This skirt is decent quality, beautiful and was reasonably priced even before Christmas. I bought it in gold and it's a beautiful classic Christmas color. The lights from the trees reflect off the sparkles and it's a really pretty effect whether you're dressing up your tree or making it look a little more casual. Highly recommended.
