This is a very compact device. It converted my laptop's poor screen resolution to high-resolution 4K UHD and colorful graphics on a large external display. I bought my laptop about a year ago based on CPU performance, memory, storage space but I didn't realize the screen resolution was that bad. I was looking for 3 things: a large high resolution external monitor with a DP connector, an external graphics adapter with an HDMI connector (input) and a DP connector (output). I bought a larger external screen for my iPad Pro, it showed the iPad screen. as well as without an adapter in extremely high resolution on an external monitor, since the iPad Pro already has a high-end graphics unit. I wanted to see my laptop screen with the same resolution and real colors. So I bought this graphics adapter and DP to DP cable and plugged this adapter into the HDMI port (to the HDMI port on the laptop) and the DP port (to an external monitor via a DP to DP cable) connected. I set my display to the highest resolution 4K UHD can get, after that it worked great to fulfill my desire. When using a port, the device gets an average temperature. So, just in case I hibernate the laptop screen when I don't use it for 20 minutes. Also, please be patient to establish a connection between the laptop's HDMI port and the monitor via this adapter during the boot process, it may take 10-20 seconds. However, a 4K UHD connection will be established automatically. Thank you!
