Many years ago my dog developed a strange skin condition. I took him to the vet several times and they gave me medicine and ointments. Considering what they do in meat based dog food I think this is the best choice. On the other hand, cats need taurine, which is found in meat. However, there are some good plant-based foods that contain this nutrient and are balanced.
