Review on πŸ”§ ACDelco GM 214-2164 Vapor Canister Vent Valve: The Ultimate Original Equipment Solution by Kenji Townsend

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits my 2009 Chevy Silverado 5.3L (J) Florida

My check engine light came on at 22,300 miles. I went to AutoZone, they scanned my truck and found code P0449. It said it was a purge valve, vent solenoid, canister, etc. First I replaced the purge valve solenoid under the plastic inlet cover (under the hood) which just snaps into place. This part costs about $14, the cheapest part. I disconnected the battery and after 10 km the light came on again. I looked online for parts and the only one listed for my truck was a remanufactured part for around $100-$130. I picked up my original and it matched the numbers on this one. I took a chance and it was an exact match. People say to buy 2 foot 5/8 heater hose and 4 clamps to cut the hoses about 6 inches from the original part and attach the new one to the original hoses on the truck. I simply heated the hoses with a heat gun and put the hoses back onto the new canister. A week has passed, 200 miles, and the check engine is off.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
