Review on πŸ”Œ Enhance Connectivity and Productivity with the Plugable USB 3.0 Universal Mini Laptop Docking Station - Dual Video Output, Gigabit Ethernet - Windows and Mac Compatible by Ray Gist

The performance is much better if you only use it for one monitor.

This is a decent product for its purpose. Performance is much better if you only use it for one monitor at a time, but you can use it for two if you want and it works quite well. I don't think it works at all if you don't have an actual GPU - it seems to be using your existing GPU, which can lead to some oddities (e.g. the nVidia control panel won't open if it's present). Monitor plugged in.) I had some instability issues - sometimes it decides to freeze the screen and the only way to recover from this is to turn off the device completely. You definitely don't play with that. Even when playing videos, I noticed that when I moved it to a monitor connected via this adapter, the CPU usage increased as opposed to my GPU. But for reading, web browsing, and other non-GPU intensive tasks, it's perfect. It seems to work fine on an Anker USB 3 7-port hub. I haven't seen any difference between that and connecting directly to my PC. Gigabit Ethernet isn't bad either - a solid bonus for those whose Ethernet port isn't working. In fact, even the Mac's Ethernet driver is very reliable, unlike the display driver (which is frankly still in beta and suffering from a lack of support from Apple Inc.). seems to be improved in Windows 10) my only problems are poor performance and driver weirdness. It could have been a great product if it had had a little more development time.

Pros
  • Computer cable adapter
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
