Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good features and great video

Considering the price I would like this device to come with a rear camera mount as I have seen several dual camera kits for a similar price. However, I do not consider the absence of any of them in my rating. Pros: - Video quality: I run my video at max resolution at 30fps and the fps tradeoff for resolution is worth it. Get higher quality video and don't worry about anything freezing. Flat Cable: Easy to hide and much easier to manage than some of the very thick cylindrical cables I've seen on other DVRs. Sucker: I'll start by saying that it falls SOMETIMES in very hot weather. If you leave your car in a parking lot in direct sunlight in California in the summer, this thing can fall. This has been done several times but not enough to be a real problem and it has never been dropped while driving. The reason I'm willing to endure a few drops is because I like being able to move it around easily without having to deal with sticky stuff on the windshield. It will NOT fall off while driving. - Lots of features like parking mode, motion detection and lots of options for looping and taking pictures. - Wide viewing angle sees your entire point of view as a driver. it- Size: not the size of the camera itself, but the size of the mount, which is why this thing sticks out 5-6 inches over the windshield. Depending on your car, this can be pretty blatant from your point of view, and I don't like being able to see that much (although I've hidden it behind the rear-view mirror as best I can). - Parking mode: I know I put this in PRO and I did it because at least it has a function. The biggest problem, however, is that it doesn't do "reverse" writing. In other words, this camera will detect a bump in your car or movement in front of your car and THEN start recording about 3-4 seconds after detection. What SHOULD happen is that it should always record while idle and then return 5 seconds BEFORE the pressure/movement is detected. If someone hits your parked car and immediately runs away, this camera will not record anything, only the aftermath. So that's my biggest criticism. Inserting a microSD card can be a problem. Be sure to watch the YouTube video to learn how, and be careful not to paste it incorrectly. You really can get stuck in a cell. I'm almost there. Otherwise, despite the really annoying complaints I have, the camera quality is fantastic both day and night. While it does get hot at times, I haven't had any heat-damaged recordings yet. I use 128GB Samsung Endurance cards and they work great. I give 4/5 just for the quality of the video. But that -1 star could easily become a -2 star for all the reasons mentioned.
