Review on Swivi Universal Foldable Viewfinder Magnification by Darion Wooten

Be careful when using in combination with a shoulder mount or tripod.

If you shoot video and want to use this viewfinder in combination with a shoulder mount or a tripod mount (particularly with a matte box), you will have trouble with the mount that attaches it to your camera. The mounting bracket uses your camera's tripod mount underneath the camera. The mounting bracket steals that bracket and offers three more mounting options, but they're all offset left or right, leaving your camera off-center when mounted on the rig. With the mounting options provided, it is not possible to align the camera to the center of the matte box. I've been trying to find a longer mounting bolt to avoid using offset mountings but can't find it anywhere. I even sent "various camera screw mounts" from a camera specialist in New York, but none of them work. An adjustable baseplate would solve the problem, but it costs over $100, so it's hardly a perfect solution. Swivi could have solved this problem SIMPLY by inserting a longer screw that goes through the mount and into the camera, or by inserting a screw. They have a female head so you can connect with it. The viewfinder is reasonably well made and can be used without assembly. It's big and makes your camera look serious if aesthetics are important to you. The quality of the optics isn't brilliant, but it's acceptable at this price point, and in bright sunlight it offers much better image framing and focusing than your camera's LCD screen. Use this viewfinder. For me it was a waste of money and I will have to buy another one that has a better mounting option.
