This was a big improvement over the Nikon 1 J1. Luckily all my lenses work great with the 1 V1 and it's a much more professional camera for the serious hobbyist who doesn't want to lug around heavy gear. The picture quality is very good. The automatic functions work better than any camera I've owned, including some 35mm SLRs. If photography makes a living then this isn't your camera of choice, although you might want to consider the Series 1 in situations where smaller and lighter would make a difference.
