Revainrating 4 out of 5

Slightly narrow view; Camera angle (up/down) adjustable

This is a great product and I am very happy with it. The hardest part of the installation was running the video cable into the cab of my truck (2000 F250 Supercab). The rest of the installation was easy. I'm not very familiar with wiring/electrical work but installed and worked great in less than 2 hours. At least 30 minutes of setup time was spent figuring out how to route the cable in and out of the cockpit and back to the camera. Once installed, the system worked fine when reversed (I powered both the camera and mirror from the reversing light; I liked that option). There are several pluses: - You can angle the camera up or down as needed. This was great for my truck as it's quite tall and the main reason I bought the camera was to make sure there weren't any kids or pets behind me. I set the camera to face down and it works great. Being able to connect to power along with video on the same cable was great. There was no reason for me to constantly power the mirror, so this saves me running the cable. It's worth noting that I bought an extra, longer video cable because I figured I'd need it. Turns out I didn't as the cable that came with it was quite long. The mirror is about the same size as the standard mirror on my truck, so it's nice and big. It also fits perfectly, doesn't wobble or rattle and my old truck doesn't run smoothly. About two hours after I installed the camera (I'm in South Florida) there was no fog or condensation. - The video image is very clear day and night. There were a few cons for me: - Camera view seems a bit narrow, probably around 90 degrees. The standard backup camera in my wife's van has a significantly wider field of view, probably around 120+ degrees. It doesn't matter as I need to look straight behind me first to check for people/pets and reverse park. The part of the power cable that comes out next to the video cable is a bit short, which meant I had to insert it into the camera's power cable in the middle. For clarification, I've powered the camera from the reversing light on the driver's side. When you connect the video cable to the camera, the power cable (the red cable that comes out next to the connector) is not long enough to go to the pigtail near the reverse light. I just cut the plus on the power cable to the camera and make another braid. It would be easier if the red power cable that runs next to the video cable was a few feet long and dangled from the same braid next to the reverse light. The mirror itself is a little dim/dim which is great during the day. However, at night the darkness of the camera, in addition to the tinting of my windows from the back of my truck, made it a little difficult to see anything. I can still see the headlights of other cars quite well, and of course I have a camera with me when reversing, so not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Overall I am satisfied with the product and do not expect it. disappointing at all now that it's installed.
