I know there are some conflicting reviews but unfortunately a lot of these are most likely due to not having the right tools/skills to do the job. Don't get me wrong, I'm not discouraging anyone, but you should do your research beforehand so you know what you're getting into. There are great videos detailing the types of sensors on these conductive plates, but unfortunately I'm not allowed to post a link on YT. because of politics, but the information is there. In any case, please note that from what I've seen there are two types of speed sensors: those like this one and those installed with potting material. If you have a 2nd gen board you most likely have a fill type and if you have one I suggest using a drill (AND BE CAREFUL) to remove the sensor (you still need to unsolder the old one and tape it use to remove the ribbon cable). I originally used the tool that came with it, but I only recommend it if you have a regular sensor (looks like it). Still, these sensors work great for any type. Note that if you cut the ribbon cable this can be repaired, but you must be able to solder and be prepared to replace/add the ribbon cable. If this is the case, a relatively simple task (for those experienced in electronics and mechanization) can take much longer. In any case, no matter what type of sensor you have (fill/normal), these sensors will work and fix the codes mentioned. Also, there is a 3rd sensor in front of the board, but most likely only one of them is defective (which is why it is sold as 2). I highly recommend just replacing the bad one and saving the other one for future use. This way you can directly confirm that you have fixed the problem. Finally, if you open up this transmission and have an older version 722.9 transmission (2005-2010), upgrade the transmission pump to needle bearing type, torque converter, deeper transmission sump and new upgraded filter. If that's too much I highly recommend adding at least a couple more sump magnets (Mercedes or Earth magnets etc.) along with a sump filter/gasket and the requisite gear oil. I ended up doing a major overhaul with the above upgrades and the machine works great. Don't be discouraged, it's very hard work, but $40 is way better than $2-300 for someone else or $1,000+ from Mercedes. And last but not least and most important. YOU MUST HAVE A COMPUTER TO ACCESS THE TCM TO CLEAR THE CODES! If you don't do this you still have an error, especially if your code reader/computer can only access the ECM computer. So get an Autel Prosumer or SDS setup. Also, getting the WIS software from Mercedes will help if you continue to work on the transmission as well as the ATRA video course on 722.9 and do the bare minimum. - so gauges only, make sure you know the procedure for topping up the lost 5 liters of transmission oil as you will be dropping the sump and the procedure for making sure it is level - no dipstick. I hope this helps and I highly recommend this trail. If you take your time and have at least minimal technical/soldering/mechanism knowledge, this is a doable task, but take your time! Much luck!
