As others have pointed out, the fact that these bath toys have tiny holes through which to spray water makes them a breeding ground for mold. To avoid this problem, I applied a small amount of aquarium glue to the opening of each toy to seal it. While they can't be used to squirt water, our kids don't really bother with them; They got just as much attention while bathing as the ones I replaced that sprayed. You just have to be careful that your kids don't chew it, which is desirable with or without glue anyway, since they'll be covered with bath water.
