Looks like this shoe has the same gel sole I was looking for but they've removed the tongue! This means that the tongue cannot be lifted to open the shoe wide for on and off, and the tongue cannot be pinched to make the shoe fit more snugly. The "tongue" part is fastened on both sides at the top and is therefore immovable. You can tighten the laces, but since "the tongue doesn't lie flat on the foot and the upper layer lies flat against it, it just squeezes, then all function of the tongue is lost when tightening and loosening the boot." I can't imagine why anyone would remove a feature from a shoe that has stood the test of time for decades. Another feature that makes the shoe very uncomfortable is that the eyelets are less fluid to work with. Obviously in an attempt to do this take a look above. more stylish, they used more leather which resulted in the laces not going smoothly through the holes. It's almost impossible to easily untie the laces to put the shoes on, made worse by the lack of a tongue. Very unpleasant. If you have shoes that everyone thinks are the best model in the world, keep your ego in check and refrain from changing them!
