You can "wrap" the wire, move from branch to branch and go down. With 200 lights, it was enough for me to get down from the top of the tallest knot, wrap and drape it, and then down to the base of my 8ft plumeria! works) and put a dot on the big power button. The other large button (the size of a coin) is the MODE button. One sad note - I was hoping one of the modes would be "Random Slow Flicker" - aka "Lightning Bug / Firefly" mode. It really isn't.
