Best bookshelf speaker in the category

I am writing this to save someone time and money. First set of bookshelf speakers; comes from the Bose Soundtouch 30. I've read so many hi-fi site reviews that I ended up becoming more undecided. Ordered Presonus R65 first. They weren't bad. The sound is there, but the build quality is not. Then I decided on SvS Prime Wireless. I was really trying to love them but the Play-Fi app you have to use 24/7 is an absolute CRASH. Even beyond that, they're not $600 speakers. I was starting to miss my Bose. I only got the A5+ because they were on sale but would definitely pay full price again. The build quality of the case is fantastic. I opened it and was even more impressed. Quality parts with clean wiring. And I don't know what others are talking about, the bass is there. This is a 5 inch speaker. How much bass do you expect? I think the highs were a bit better on the Presonus, but there was a little too much of it at times. I listen to music of all genres and for less than 500 Audioengine just killed it. Edit: A month later I still love these speakers. My ONLY complaint is that the USB port is 500mA and will not charge the device while playing. It will keep charging it when it's already at 100%, but charging and playing will damage the battery. I assume they did this to reduce signal interference?., which isn't an issue like other speakers was.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Crumpled
