Build quality is excellent too

I bought this to replace an old speaker set that was dying. I have to say that I have never heard a cleaner sound from any speaker in this price range. The processing quality is also excellent. I recommend getting a subwoofer. It's not that the bass is bad, but I would like more depth and power. Edit: One of the speakers died. Hence a star deduction. However, this is not a rating. I emailed audioengine, got a quick reply and fixed the issue. Since I couldn't solve the problem, I sent them back…

The best "computer speakers " I've ever heard.

I waited a few months before writing this to really let it shine. I'm not exactly sure how/why these baddies are classified as "computer speakers" - they're more like real speakers for listening to music. If you're looking for a (decent) speaker set that you can squeeze into the typically cramped spaces on either side of your monitor, the Logitec or Klipsch offerings are better for about 1/3 the price (I switched to these from the Klipsch 2.1) . . If SQ is paramount then you should use the…

Best bookshelf speaker in the category

I am writing this to save someone time and money. First set of bookshelf speakers; comes from the Bose Soundtouch 30. I've read so many hi-fi site reviews that I ended up becoming more undecided. Ordered Presonus R65 first. They weren't bad. The sound is there, but the build quality is not. Then I decided on SvS Prime Wireless. I was really trying to love them but the Play-Fi app you have to use 24/7 is an absolute CRASH. Even beyond that, they're not $600 speakers. I was starting to miss my…

Excellent - I have 5 sets and 4 subwoofers

Fantastic speakers! I have 5 sets together with 4 Audioengine S8 8" powered subwoofers: Audioengine S8 Black 8" powered subwoofers. I have used Bose Companion 20 speakers before and obviously the audio engine is superior to Bose. I also have several Bose SoundTouch 30s, 20s and 10s and prefer the Audioengine A5+. (I use a set in a small bathroom with no subwoofer.) If you share a wall with a neighbor, you won't be able to use the subwoofer very often. With no subwoofer in my small bathroom, the

Good speakers, poorly designed packaging caused damage

I just installed these speakers today. They were packed in several styrofoam boxes and wrapped in nice bags to protect them from scratches. Unfortunately, the bags were a misjudgment on the part of the manufacturer. The bags have a hard plastic locking mechanism (pictured) and either during packaging or shipping this piece of hard plastic shifted and landed between the edge of the speaker and the styrofoam. This resulted in a cracked dent and an additional dent on the right speaker (pictured)…

A few bugs for the so-called #1 – Buy DAC with speakers

Original Limitations (Note 3): Why is the power button on the back? Not only that; Why is he in a weird place in the background? I have to grope for the heat spreader instead of just turning on the speakers. Why not place the power button on the front? Is the volume switch set to infinity? There is no indication of the volume and the knob spins forever but roughly speaking the volume stops increasing but which db am I on? The left speaker made an odd feedback noise when I turned the speakers…

As advertised. sublimate!

My old set of computer speakers recently died after 3 years (no guarantee, of course). I was very happy with this set but had no luck finding anyone to fix them (even the manufacturer didn't help, shame on you Corsair!). To replace something I like, it must either be the same item or an update. The worst thing for me would be to get something and be disappointed compared to what I last owned. After doing a lot of research on the internet, I moved further towards Audioengine. I've had my eye on…
