Review on Anchor 2984 Transmission Mount by Aries Boyce

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Anchor 2984 (left side) transmission mount.

Purchased to replace sagging/compressed engine mounts on a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan. This is the LEFT SIDE mount (Anchor calls it the "middle" mount for some reason). The original bracket (mopar 5012896) is all steel, while the replacement anchor is cast aluminum. However, the one I received had the hub installed in a slightly rotated position (same problem as other anchor mounts). It should line up with one of the mounting holes, but mine was about 8-9 degrees (where else the anchor was rotated 14 degrees!, see photo) Made in China. Anchor needs to improve the quality of the product. It includes a built in bracket for the shifter cable so I had to remove the original separate metal bracket. I also had to enlarge the hole for the shifter cable a bit. You will need to remove the left wheel and move the fender to access the mounting bolts. I had to remove the air filter housing, cruise control canister and battery compartment so I could remove the bracket (2 painted screws above) to get this out. Also, since the new bracket is cast aluminum (not steel) and thicker, two of the three original mounting screws are too short. head screws). Of course you will need to support/raise the transmission with a jack/wooden block.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Useless features
