This is not an environmentally friendly product. The description is misleading as only thin layers of cleaning are made from plant fibers, not the main sponge. This is a promotional scheme called "green wash" to make the product appear as eco-friendly when in fact it is not. The weird thing is that 3M has other cellulose sponges that they could use as a sponge base but have decided to stick with the traditional sponge. I will commend them for making the 3M box from recycled materials, even though sponges are still made from plastic. It's nice to see some improvements, but then again it's not that green since they already have the ability to make them! I was hoping to keep my original plastic wand and upgrade to more eco-friendly heads, but it looks like I'll have to switch brands (and throw away the wand, which is a shame) to get a truly eco-friendly wand. friendly product.
