I can use Synthesized with my custom fields in Power BI Desktop without any issue at all. The UI/UX looks good even if not natively supporting PowerBI (e.g. Tableau). No way to easily add or edit Custom Metadata Fields through GUI. There's also no simple way to copy metadata from one table within the database into another that doesn't require scripting language knowledge. If you want your users/customers to be able to work across multiple tables, but don't have the time and resources to build it yourself then go ahead - at least it solves 90% of our problems! We'd been using standard ETL tools like SSIS / OLE DB which was both painful and required constant maintenance. Now we can focus 100% on what makes us money - making products so customers love them - instead of spending hours maintaining software infrastructure. I really like how easy it is to use! There are tons of cool features that make this tool very powerful. The UI could be better but they're working hard at making improvements with every release. You can easily get up and running in minutes or less. It's great if you want to automate your tests/data creation process. This helps ensure consistency across teams and reduces errors. We've been able to solve many issues by using synthetics.
