Smooth, not bleeding. ideal for practicing calligraphy
This notebook is recommended for practicing Hebrew calligraphy. I had no problems with that. I used Higgins Eternal Ink and there was no bleeding. Also, I was able to draw practice lines with ease and see through the paper enough to use my lines as a guide. The pad is indeed slightly worn in the lower right corner, which I think happened during shipping. Most of the time, however, this was not an obstacle. Being new to calligraphy I don't have another paper to compare, but it seems to match the description recommended in the Hebrew calligraphy book I use: Izzy Pludwinski.
