The material should be more elastic, big phones only fit in the front outer pocket, which then tilts so much that it becomes uncomfortable. The air vent connector must provide a horizontal and vertical connection so that you can connect to the rear assembly, this connection only goes out and the weight of the phone covers the air vent. If the connector was pivotable or something, the strut would take the weight off the vent as it could be connected to the rear vent assembly.
