Review on Hitachi MAF0092 Mass Flow Sensor by Scott Kalinowski

PERFECT FIT AND SPECS FOR 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE.

Long history but with mergers etc this is a Nissan works part. Nissan never made them themselves. They were and are on a contract basis. The engine would not even idle without stalling repeatedly. Various rich and lean check DTCs that didn't make any sense. The fuel trims were a complete mess. The computer thought the engine was getting too much fuel and the fuel trim took away fuel causing the engine to stall because the MAF lied about airflow. I decided to replace the DMRV and now everything is PERFECT. Drives like a new car! No more delays. No codes now, fuel trim is perfect and even passed emissions testing! Mileage and performance even improved. MAF problems are difficult to diagnose. Maf sensor code never received. BUT MAF There was a problem. Mass airflow sensors can eventually get dirty and report poor airflow readings to the computer and disable everything before the maf actually fails. Tips - BOTH banks are affected. This rules out a bad fuel injector, bad spark plug, bad oxygen sensor, etc. The fuel trims are actually out of range, which doesn't make sense. Sometimes fast. Sometimes rich. This eliminates many other potential problems. Maf LIES to the computer when there are worn/dirty and bizarre codes that are incompatible and don't make sense. Anyway, Nissan is very picky about all emissions related sensors and this MAF unit works great with my 2001 Pathfinder. The cost is a lot better than buying an aftermarket sensor and finding it doesn't work. Unfortunately, Nissan needs parts from Nissan. Computer Sensors Aftermarket parts typically do not work. This factory part works incredibly well! Worth every penny. IF the check engine light is on and the codes don't make sense and BOTH banks are affected, consider MAF before replacing hundreds or thousands of parts you don't need that don't solve the problem. Also keep in mind that the first sensor responsible for air/fuel ratio functions is the MAF, just after the air cleaner and usually affects BOTH sides/sides of the engine. A very common problem. Thank you Rewin! Saved a lot of money on the repair. Another good thing, if you're at all mechanically inclined, is the BLUEDRIVER diagnostic scanner, which is available from Revain for $99. This is an invaluable resource. I've saved literally thousands since I bought mine and no, Amazon doesn't pay me to support the BlueDriver device! I love my! It shows everything that is going on with engine/computer sensors etc and is also an engine check code reader and even has a smog/emissions check function and more. GET ONE. You will like it. Thanks to Revain and Hitachi. great maf Works perfect. The 15 minute exchange literally saved me hundreds of dollars! Or more !
