The idea of using an alarm clock never appealed to me. The smartphone is the answer to everything in the 21st century, right? But recently both my husband and I have admitted that we are overly dependent on our phones, especially before bed, lying in bed, spending hours "socializing" and shifting bedtime. I've read many articles about how a bright LCD screen puts our brain into "wake" mode and how phone radiation affects our brain activity and hormone levels. I don't doubt these articles at all, I just can't stop. airplane mode? No, it's too easy to turn the data back on. It's called forcing and I need to check if my new Instagram friend has replied to my post. If you're still reading, you'll see what I mean. To make matters worse, this habit is very, very bad for our three-year-old — he's spending increasing amounts of time playing on the iPad while we're busy on our phones, and arriving late in our room to sleep. We used to condemn parents who only focused on their business while ignoring their children by giving them iPads. NOW WE BECOME THESE! Cell phones need to be thrown out of the bedroom but still wake up on time for tomorrow's work and school. Well, we need an alarm clock! Back to business, choosing an alarm clock at Revain is not so simple - there are many similar ones. I chose this model for three reasons: 1. Most of the ads are written in lousy English. I just can't trust your company or product if you can't even get the description right. This is one of the few announcements with reasonable English. 2. An article states that watches with blue numerals are preferable to red or white, and blue is my favorite color. Great, that narrows the options considerably. 3. Customer Service. When I ordered this watch it had just arrived with no customer feedback. I was a bit skeptical but very interested and also had some questions about the watch so I sent them a message. They responded to my message in less than two hours, answered my questions and also explained the return policy and guarantee (thanks Emily!). In fact, I never get a reply to my message from another seller who has the same watch, and customer service is very important to me. Decision made, order placed and Revain Prime was fantastic - received the watch NEXT DAY. I'm glad I ordered USCCE, it seriously exceeded my expectations. And that's REALLY good without your phone disturbing your sleep. Who doesn't support a start-up company that offers a great product, friendly customer service, and a strong guarantee? That's why I'm sitting here writing this positive review and hopefully it will help those like me who are looking for an alarm clock. Some good features to highlight: 1. Intuitive setup. You should not read the entire manual or refer to a tutorial video on how to operate the watch (although they do offer a tutorial video on Youtube which can be accessed by scanning a QR code). All buttons and dials are clearly labeled with functions or symbols and everything is clearly displayed on the screen. Setting the clock/alarm is done in the usual way – press and hold until the number flashes, select the big knob to set, press once to move to the next and continue. One design I like the most is the easy setting of the weekend/weekday alarm. There are two switches on the back that correspond to each alarm. You can toggle between three options to make your alarms only work on specific days or all days: Mon-Fri, Sat-Sun, Mon-Sun. How convenient! We don't need a double alarm in the morning but instead I use the 2nd alarm as a bedtime alarm for the kid and it actually works pretty well. 2.Dimmers. The controls are very simple - just use the dial on the back to increase or decrease the brightness. Thank goodness it can be turned off completely as every light in the room disturbs the man's sleep. Another benefit is that if I wake up at midnight, I can turn on the screen as a dim light to help me get to the bathroom. It's not trivial – imagine yourself half asleep walking through a mess of Legos and toy cars in total darkness. 3. Tones and volume - basically how an alarm clock does its job. You have 6 alarm options: 5 built-in sounds (beep, piano, rattling sounds like mechanical alarm clocks, birdsong and what they call "soft music" but more like a mix of piano and birdsong) and a radio. If the radio is set as an alarm clock, it will default to the last station you listened to and wake you up in the morning. You also have the option to set a specific channel as an alarm by pressing and holding the snooze button while that channel is playing. There are two volume up and down buttons: when the radio is on, it controls the radio volume (with a V in front of the number), and when the radio is off, it controls the alarm (with an L in front). The radio volume can be turned down to minimum but the lowest alarm volume setting is level 3 so you never accidentally silence an alarm - very well thought out. We are light sleepers and level 6 is enough. Heavy sleepers might need more decibels, but seriously, level 16 is very loud. Well, the good thing is that it increases gradually, so you don't get scared when you wake up from sleep. Radio. For me, the radio is my grandma's thing and I never listen to the radio, even when I'm in the rental car. But I find that some stations can be interesting sometimes, especially when I'm cleaning my room (maybe I'm just getting old? lol). Scanning is fast and stations are saved automatically. We receive 34 stations and I only list the MHz frequencies here for those who want to know more about the properties of the radio (I know this from years of studies in the laboratory): 88.1, 88.5, 88.9, 89.3, 90. 1, 91.1, 91.9, 92.5, 93.5, 94.3, 96.3, 97.1, 97.5, 97.9, 98.7, 99.1, 99.5, 99, 100.7, 101.1, 101.9, 102.5, 103.9, 104.7, 101.7, 101.1 105.1 105.1 105.1 105.1 105.1 105.1 105.1 105.1 105.9 We live near Washington DC and I know these numbers are useless for other areas , but still. The office worker told me that he also uses a clock radio and only gets 25 while his car usually gets about 40 channels. The FM sleep timer is cool, I tested this feature but never used it. When FM is off, pressing this button once (same for setting the clock) does nothing; but when FM is on, you can set the timer from 10 to 150 minutes.5. spare battery. I didn't realize how important this feature was until my kid turned off the power the other day. Needless to say I dropped 3 batteries after reinstalling everything. I've seen many similar alarm clocks that only use backup batteries to restore settings but don't really support the alarm so I kept writing to the seller, they responded to my message on time and assured me that both the alarm and the radio are supported and are as accurate as when connected to a network. The room temperature is correct. There are two charging ports on the front right under the screen, which doesn't really matter to me as we have a 4 USB extension cable, but it can come in handy if you need additional functionality. Pros done, now it's time for the other side and it could be improved: 1. Only days are shown (Monday to Sunday) and it would be nice if dates were also available. Humidity in the room will also be a plus. But I imagine it would add even more volume to an already busy screen.2. The snooze time is set to 9 minutes and cannot be changed. It would be desirable if it was customer oriented.3. More options in the sound library, like light rain or waves. It's still a long way off, but it would be cool if it eventually included the white noise machine feature. Then it will require a premium speaker and I think it will be more expensive. Well, just a suggestion.4. The package and manual could require more proofreading and editing work. They misspelled the word "with" on the packaging and there are a few grammatical errors in the instructions. White color version.6. Headphone jack cover. My kid just keeps cutting off the DC power and plugging it into the headphone jack. It rains on the weekends and you can tell I'm bored spending more than two hours in front of the computer writing this. I don't always write product reviews, but when I do, let's go. If you're still reading, thank you and I hope you find this helpful. I've only had the watch for 2 weeks and can't confirm its durability yet, but I'll definitely update my review if anything goes wrong. Considering their past customer service and generous warranty, I'm not overly concerned. If you're looking for a reliable, great-value bedside alarm clock, look no further!
