Review on Enhance Storage Efficiency with StarTech.com 1 Port PCI Express IDE Controller Adapter Card - ATA - 133 MBps - PCIe x1 (PEX2IDE) by Fort Steffen

I bought this card to connect a pair of PATA Plextor drives to my modern archiving PC. Initially I had some boot issues but I solved it by disabling all boot options in UEFI. It doesn't support cable selection and only works if you set the drives as master/slave. It's also very slow, despite the specs saying it supports ATA100 and drives with DMA 2 and DMA 4 and DMA enabled in Device Manager, it's still PIO speed limited. The instructions are poor and could be much better, I think the drivers in Windows 7 are not suitable for this controller chip. It works and I can't blame him, but I'm still disappointed.
