I found this difficult too, but a few taps with a rubber mallet (or a bear-handed husband) will solve this problem. The instructions are easy to follow, although mine included parts that weren't in the box, which didn't matter as there was no way to put them in the press anyway. Elbow fat and momentum to get them through the abs, some pants work better than others. You cannot thread large or medium-sized zippers and buttons, as they will deform the press. This means starting your legs at the jeans and ending at the waistband, then pulling them back in the opposite direction. I don't mind, but if you're not used to wrestling, it can be depressing. The force used to force clothing through CAN move a sink or convenient tub if not bolted to a wall or heavy frame. I don't currently have either and my all-purpose tub usually rests on my hip when I push it out so it doesn't slide on the floor. Make sure you have a solid base for this piece so it doesn't let you down. So bottom line: create a stable workspace, take the time to play with the cocking knob, and learn something new or better techniques along the way. and you will be satisfied with this product.
