Review on Quick Release Dog Backpack by Outward Hound Kyjen by Renae Lockwood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Large size for my GSD

My German Shepherd is perfect for the large size. It is in the 70-80 lb range; very active adult dog without being overweight. The large will also work for a much larger dog as I had to tighten the straps so that the end of the strap hangs almost to the ground. I can't imagine how big a dog would have to be to fit XL - maybe a very fat St. Bernard or something. The bag itself makes a fairly robust impression. I put two water bottles on each side and the bottles fit well. I also occasionally put a bottle with two medium sized library books on each side while we go to the library. This is one of the few bags I've seen that can actually carry enough weight for the dog to feel like it's working. I don't know how the bag will stand up to thorns and prickles, but I don't see any problems with the bag for a walk in the park or to the library. It seems to be a common, fairly light backpack material found in a child's bag. Love the fact that it has round pads to protect the dog's skin while you close it. I don't want to pinch my dog so that's a nice bonus. Another very pleasant moment is the price. I found the same brand, different style, medium size, $40 at Pet's Mart. I wouldn't pay that much for a backpack for my kid so I'm happy to find a 40% discount here at Revain. One of the downsides of the bag is that it doesn't come with installation instructions. I should be able to figure out how to properly fit the bag and where exactly it goes and whether it should rest on the dog's shoulders or lower on the back. I'd love to see how tight the straps should be, but I think they leave it up to the buyer to see how comfortable the dog is. I just hope I don't strain my back too much and place the bag in the right place.
