Review on Knirps 889 100 Xtreme Duomatic Umbrella by Kayla Guzman

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Can't take it Look for something better.

Bought on numerous recommendations from review blogs and forums. For the price, I expected my $20 umbrella to fly out of the water. However, I don't think so. It opens and closes with about the same force as cheaper umbrellas. The central pillar is just as sloppy. Maybe it's made of better metals or there's something special about the design, but the outside reveals little. Windflaps help the umbrella turn over but don't seem to help control the umbrella in the wind. The torque on the handle is the same as any other umbrella. It's true that the fabric didn't get as wet as my other umbrella, so it will probably help dry faster, although that's rarely a problem in my life. It's about the same size as my other umbrella when open and the weight is very similar too. When closed, the diameter is definitely larger. It looks good in my work bag, but hardly for a women's handbag. I will keep it but if I checked it out in a store I wouldn't see value for money. UPDATE: Ribs ruptured tissue within 1 month. When using public transportation in Seattle, I mostly use an umbrella in the winter. The soft top is awful. The fabric is punctured at every point where the ribbing joins the folded fabric. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
