. I used to have a compact tots umbrella and despite its advertised blow out resistance it didn't quite match the Windy City. I chose this vented version and loved it. When the wind picks up, the vents allow it to flow through the canopy without being blown inside out. Its 48-inch diameter is much larger than most compact umbrellas, but I can still easily slip it into my backpack so I'm never caught unprepared in a downpour. It's worth paying a little more for.

If so, you won't be disappointed. I have been keeping my newest little one for many years and it has survived many storms and bad weather. However, it wasn't as ventilated as this model, and the recent monstrous wind…

Can't take it Look for something better.

Bought on numerous recommendations from review blogs and forums. For the price, I expected my $20 umbrella to fly out of the water. However, I don't think so. It opens and closes with about the same force as cheaper umbrellas. The central pillar is just as sloppy. Maybe it's made of better metals or there's something special about the design, but the outside reveals little. Windflaps help the umbrella turn over but don't seem to help control the umbrella in the wind. The torque on the handle is
