This is my first rating based on 1 ride with this inverter for my solar system. I will compare this inverter to the 1000 watt Ampeak that I also own and bought for the same purpose. Both Bestek and Ampeak easily powered everything I wanted to use them for, including a coffee maker, toaster, vacuum reservoir, and small fridge. Of course I don't use them at the same time. The differences between the two inverters in terms of functionality are as follows. First, there is a big difference in the fans. The Bestek fan is very quiet (perhaps partly due to the fairly solid aluminum construction), while the Ampeaks fan is comparatively noisy. The Bestek fan will then only run when the load is high enough (I don't know what power level the fan is running at as Bestek doesn't have a power meter). Importantly, the Bestek fan does not work while the fridge is running except for literally a split second when it starts up, which is almost imperceptible. In comparison, the Ampeak fan runs all the time while the fridge is running, and because it's quite noisy, it's especially annoying at night when you're trying to sleep. My fridge runs for about 1 1/2 minutes and shuts off for about 3-4 minutes depending on how warm my RV is. When operating the coffee maker and toaster, both inverter fans run continuously, which is to be expected since these devices are pushed to the performance limit of the inverters. The only major difference when using these devices is the noisy Ampeak fan vs the quiet Bestek fan. The final noise difference between these two inverters is the alarm on the Ampeak. When the battery level barely drops below the set safety level, Ampeak will beep. This happens when the refrigerator starts due to a very brief power surge. After the battery level drops a little further, it will beep twice. Finally, after about 20 hours or more, a continuous alarm finally sounded before finally shutting down. On my system, this starts around 1am, just when I'm about to fall into a good deep sleep! An alarm clock is completely useless unless you want to be woken up by an annoying beep every 4 minutes. Bestek doesn't have a useless audible alarm, so sleeping at night is virtually silent. So I bought Bestek to replace Ampeak because Ampeak is too loud to live with. Ampeak has an output power meter, which I like, but Bestek doesn't. In terms of efficiency, the two inverters are about the same, although I suspect that the Bestek could be a little better due to the overuse of the Ampeak fan. If you use the inverter in a construction site or other place where noise is not a problem, both inverters are fine. If noise bothers you, choose Bestek. I can't comment on the durability of these products as I haven't owned them long enough to be able to rate them. I have a 2000w Bestek in my work van that I've had for about a year and it works great, powering all my work tools and charging the battery easily.
