I really want to like this hat. It's very comfortable and by itself, fits great. The major issue I have is when wearing the hat with a jacket. which is what you would really expect to do when wearing this hat. Wearing it by itself, the bill extends at a slightly downward angle. Folding down the ear and neck cover does cover my ears (barely) . When wearing with a jacket and folding down the ear/neck protection, however, the collar of the jacket pushes up on the neck flap causing the bill of the hat to push down further greatly reducing your area of vision unless you walk with your neck craned slightly backwards to lift up the bill of the hat. When wearing with my jacket and the neck / ear protection down, and walking normally, I was only able to effectively see the ground about 20 feet out ahead of me. additionally, the collar of the jacket, in pushing up on the back of thee hat caused the ear flaps to push out as well, allowing the cold air to reach the bottom half of my ears. If the back neck protector portion were about an inch higher and the bill not quite angled down so much this would be a terrific hat.
