This is such a great idea I really don't understand why it doesn't come standard with the Nintendo Switch. I can't imagine adding a battery to an OEM controller would cost so much that Nintendo couldn't afford without increasing the price of the console. This seems like a no-brainer and I'm glad someone thought of it and made a product. So the way the original grip works is you turn your Joy-Cons into a gamepad by inserting them into the grip. But when they run out of battery power, they have to be unplugged and docked or plugged into a charger to charge. This handle greatly simplifies the task. First off, it charges your Joy-Cons while you play, but once you run out of batteries in the grip and Joy-Cons (let's face it, it's time for a break anyway), you won't be able to to take them out of the handle to charge. Just use the included USB cable (Type-C) and charge them and the handle at the same time. The center of the grip is the same size as the original, but the actual grips are slightly larger, making it more comfortable. if you have big hands. However, my children have not complained about the use, so even small hands can handle it very well. Another feature is that you can choose whether you want to charge your Joy-Cons or not. There is a small power button on the back of the handle. It toggles the charger on and off so you can charge it or let it use its own battery while you play. As I said, this is a great design that should be part of the original equipment from the start.
