I use them to run the console on network switches and older servers. They work better than my old ones that had a performance chipset (sometimes they weren't recognized anymore). I bought two of these and am using one on COM1 and one on COM3 so I can have two consecutive putty sessions open at the same time when setting up two swirches with VSS, VPC etc. I like that they are longer than my old ones so I don't have to stand directly behind the servers in the rack.
