My husband got one of these 750ml bottles and took it on a hike on our recent trip. I felt my traditional hard bottle was fine until I tasted it. I came home and ordered one. I used to think that a hard bottle hitting my leg or ricocheting off my vest was just part of the hiking experience, but this bottle is all but gone. I forgot it was there and since it attaches to the silicone loop at the bottom (as well as the large loop at the top) I can put it to my mouth without detaching it. If you must wash the inside with soapy water, rinse thoroughly with very hot water several times to avoid a hint of soapy taste. A brush and hot water is all I've used since I tasted soap. These aren't our everyday "on the table" bottles because they're free, but if you choose to keep them in your gym bag or purse you'll be safe because they never leak; They have the best bite valve on the market. I also like that the valve cap is attached to the bottle so you can't lose it. Snapping the valve cap onto the cap also secures the cap securely and keeps my "cap loss genes" from sabotaging any efforts not to lose it. However, the lid can be removed if you intentionally remove it for cleaning or other purposes, which I would never do.
