After a few minutes you can adjust the length of the belt to your personal waist size. I'd suggest adding at least 8 inches of slack to allow for post-meal changes and a decent length to tuck into an adjacent belt loop. Also, it's better to have too much than too little. With this system, it is easy to shorten the length. The buckle mechanism is reliable and works as expected. A fantastic improvement over the old belt and buckle/pin hole method. And great leather. Inspection of the belt does not find marriage, defects, flaws. Just a well made belt with a ratchet buckle. The belt looks good with a suit, probably after a long time of wearing and taking on a personality (scuffs and scratches from normal use), it will be suitable with jeans or slacks. Overall, this belt meets or exceeds expectations for a modest belt. I would give it top marks and a very high recommendation.
