Review on πŸ“· Fujinon GF50mm F3.5 R LM WR Lens - Black by Josh Chenier

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good lens but too expensive for a simple optical design.

Not a bad lens, pretty sharp and very compact for its size. However, it is too expensive for such a simple design with a single aspherical element. I would wait for a discount or use it. Hopefully someone like Sigma will release a first for this format and bring some real Fuji to it. Edit: February 2020 I told you it was overpriced! Now it's 50% off (HALF PRICE!) - and it should have been from the start. Fuji is clearly cheating early adopters. Beware. Honestly, I'm repelled by them as a company. Why invest when you can cut the cost of your equipment in half in just a few months. PS: The body of the GFX100 will no doubt be getting a discount soon too - expect at least a $2,000 discount and maybe a $3,000 discount. Wait.

Pros
  • GF50mmF3. The 5 R LM WR consists of 9 elements in 6 groups and includes an aspherical lens to minimize spherical aberration and barrel distortion. Engineered for sharp images, rich tones and very little focus blur, this lens is ideal for both still photography and motion capture.
Cons
  • Low maintainability
