Review on πŸ’‘ Efficient Energy Saving: Belkin 8-Outlet Conserve Switch Surge Protector with Remote Control, 4ft Cord – White by Shawn Jimenez

Incredibly Bad Design Flaw

NB - If this unit's remote controlled outlets are powered on and it loses power for any reason - blackout, tripped switch, switched outlet, etc. --- THIS WILL DISCONNECT AND RESET REMOTE CONTROLS. THEY WILL NOT TURN ON WHEN THE POWER RESTORES - AND THE REMOTE CONTROL WILL NO LONGER WORK. Before it works again, you need to physically restart the device by pressing the manual control button on the device. This makes it practically unsuitable for use in hidden or hard-to-reach places and for people with limited mobility. This also makes it unsuitable for use in critically powered devices (chargers, aquariums, freezers, refrigerators, ice makers, etc.) as they do not receive power. as soon as power is restored to the remote-controlled outlets on the power strip. This is a long-standing issue that Belkin is undoubtedly aware of and has carefully avoided mentioning in its documentation, this list, and even in the troubleshooting section of the companion product's "Manual". (although it does point this out in the manual where it says you should use manual control if the remote doesn't work). It's just shameful.
