Update: Everything was fine while it lasted. It shorted out exactly where it always happens, just like I predicted from the photos. Microsoft couldn't have designed a worse charger. Old: This unit comes with an adapter that doesn't allow you to use a cable with clamps, allowing you to plug most of the box directly into an outlet. I've attached a video showing how it just won't stay in the device. It falls out and becomes useless. I liked the concept, it's a shame it didn't work. This is my third replacement charger. My 1st replacement was a cheap brand that never worked and almost caught fire, 2nd was Weeten and worked fine for 6 months then shorted out and this will be my 3rd try. So far, so good. It seems to work. I hope the tote bag will extend the lifespan. I've come to the conclusion that Microsoft made a terrible design mistake with this one. I never liked having two separate pieces that were difficult to carry and the smaller cable is too flimsy to last long. So far I'm only interested in the packaging. The cable was bent right where all my other chargers shorted out. I'm afraid they may have already started the spiral for me. See pictures showing the problem area. On fig. 1 shows how the new block was packed. On fig. 2 and 3 show the short circuit of my old devices (not this brand). It seems to be the weakest point and that's where it always breaks. I've also found that this new adapter doesn't overheat like the original or other brands I've tried. Some warmer and others got hot.
