These mats work exactly as described. They're great (in the sense that they don't burn) and are especially good on fish and shrimp. Best of all, they are reusable and easy to clean; much easier than cleaning a grill. I think one way to use them would be to pack them back. They are lightweight and have a flat surface. Easily fits in a backpack. If you put a light oven with stones around it, you could put a rug over the oven and cook the trout; I can't wait for the ice on the alpine lakes to melt so I can try this idea.
