Review on Panasonic PVDV952 MiniDV Multicam Digital Camcorder: Color LCD, Viewfinder & 8MB SD Card by Michael Tegan

Great camcorder

I've been searching a lot for a quality camcorder lately. This turned out to be the winner. After trying many Sony and Canon 2CCD products, both were good, this camcorder had more products. As this is a 3CCD camcorder, the colors and sharpness are EXCEPTIONAL. With this camera you can shoot a professional documentary. The only problem with all sub-$3,000 camcorders is that you will have trouble recording in low light. The low light features on Panasonics, Sonys and Canons are inferior, so don't trust MARKETING, that they can shoot in color at night - those military shots with greens in low light, etc. Really impractical. Note that these cameras can only be used in good lighting conditions. I took the Panasonic to Hawaii and it worked perfectly. Buy a larger Panasonic branded lithium ion battery and you'll have more than enough power for 3 days of regular video recording thanks to the large LCD screen (which beats the competition). The controls are also intuitive and easy to use. While it's a little bulkier than Sony's 2-CCD handhelds (despite weighing the same), it's SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than other 3-CCD competitors. If you are an enthusiast then this camera offers the best in terms of price, performance (3cc!) and size. .
