I was almost certain that this case not only closes around the perimeter but also closes the buttons. I really would have preferred the buttons to be open, but I haven't seen any other options in other similar items. The transparent part above the buttons was quite stiff but I think it would soften over time but I just cut it off. I have a 5 button Nissan key fob and half of my fifth button (starter remote!) is covered by the blue part of the cover. It's annoying, but I can get around it. The rest of the case is fine. It's soft and flexible but seems to offer some protection. I love blue! It's almost the same shade as my car. As with some of the other reviews, I found the leather strap and carabiner heavy and too heavy. If carried in a purse, it would be easy to find and pull out, but it's too bulky in a pocket. I was able to get a regular split ring through the sealed hole, no problem!
