Review on 🎧 MOTOROLA MH003: Boost Your Mobile Experience with the Motorola Boom 2 Wireless Headset by James Morrow

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Massive disappointments. Motorola has ruined a good product.

All BOOM models have been bought and used for years. (Boom, Boom2 and Boom 2+) thanks to long battery life and excellent sound quality. But they all suffered from at least four deficiencies: 1. The rotating part of the boom breaks at the connection supports, and 2. The earwires break and the swivel or round-tooth loop coils around the handset.3. Earhooks can be painful. the end portion will irritate your ear.4. Recorded announcements sound at maximum volume and are uncomfortable. These BOOMs used to have three great things: 1. The sound quality is top notch. Rich Midtones.2. With multipoint (two phones), the speaker announces "phone one connected" and "phone two connected"3. Long signal range, 50 to 200 feet depending on model NOW THE FIRST TWO OF THESE ADVANTAGES HAVE GONE. Motorola changed these products for the worse without changing the model numbers. Your upgrade was a major customer downgrade. The new BOOM now suffers from at least the following points: 1. The sound is now tinny and uncomfortable for callers and recipients2. The metal swivel of the barrel is dangling and this is one of the problem areas3. The circular sawtooth part of the earhook around the earpiece has a poor grip, making the device too easy to move vertically4. You can't reset this bluetooth! The previous instructions posted everywhere are no longer correct. No matter what key combination or maneuver is performed, you'll never hear "Welcome to Motorola Boom" and set up five functions. Technical support and literature have always acknowledged that some connectivity issues require a factory reset, but this new version of BOOM can no longer do that. You can never announce which phone is connected. In previous versions there was a wonderful feature "phone one is connected" and "phone two is connected". This new version simply declares "Connected Connected". Stupid. This feature is valuable in part because if you want to locate either of your two phones, you'll know they're nearby.6. The women's announcements are still too loud. Motorola had to make this woman's announcements as loud as the user adjusted the ringer volume. While the BOOMs have fast charge times and long battery life, the Boom 2+ (not the Boom2) does so at the expense of a shorter Bluetooth range. BOOM2 travels about 200 feet. BOOM2+ seems to go 25-50 feet under identical conditions.8. If you move out of Bluetooth range and back into range after pairing, it won't automatically reconnect like it did in the old version. Now I need to go to bluetooth setting on my phone and force connect.9. It no longer gives an estimate of the remaining charge in hours, just generalizes as simply "average", for example. Not as useful as the remaining clock charge. The new earhook no longer digs into my ear as the loop adjusts to the head, the fiber doesn't press against the ear. but fooled us consumers by keeping the same model numbers. Revain has Bluetooth headphones (not Motorola) priced between $12 and $18 and they work with two phones and sound a lot better than these new BOOMs. They agreed that the features have changed as I described. There's no point in replacing under warranty, so we'll be returning these Revain bars. Rather than relying on my experience with old barbells, I should have looked at the sheer volume of 1 star reviews here on Revain. As Motorola representatives read this, I hope they will answer the following questions: β€’ 1. Why doesn't Motorola make a better Arrow Part hinge? This has been a problem for many years. β€’ 2. Why doesn't Motorola supply replacement parts for the swivel bar to the consumer so we don't have to send them the speaker β€’ 3. Why doesn't Motorola make a better earloop.? The barrel and sawtooth grip have been a problem for many years. β€’ 4. Why did Motorola refuse to factory reset this model? Resets are known to solve problems. β€’ 5. I've tried four booms now (2 from B2, 2 from B2+) and they all have problems with transmission and sound quality. My old Boom2, which is two years old, sounds good. β€’ 6. Why did Motorola remove connection identifiers such as "Phone 1 Connected" and "Phone 2 Connected"? This feature was excellent, especially when one of the phones is out of place. β€’ 7. Why does Motorola have this woman on the menu who announces everything at maximum volume? The volume should correspond to the set conversation volume β€’ 8. Does Motorola restore good sound quality to both transmitting and receiving on older Booms? In all your standard replies you write that complaints are a guarantee. Which of the nine items above can be repaired under your warranty?
