This is the only replacement filter that will fit my 5 gallon Fluval. There are 3 cotton pads and one under the pad. A 5 gallon tank is very difficult to maintain. This reservoir has a very high evaporation rate. I change the white filter every 2 weeks and the bottom filter with half the water in the tank. I have live plants and beta fish in my tank, all of which are thriving! But he also has brown algae. Therefore, flush the filter system, including this one, weekly. Result. They fit.
