It saved me a lot of trouble today. I received the item in the mail the same day I knew I could get my hair cut but I didn't have a babysitter for my 2.5 year old daughter. She played with this set next to me while I got my hair cut and it made it completely painless. I can understand why some people would worry about the lack of a lid, but if you know that beforehand, it's easy to get a tupperware container or zip-top storage bag. One annoyance is that if your child (like mine) is of an age where they like to put things in their mouths, you need to keep a close eye on their play. My daughter put one of the dresses in her mouth and scratched it with her teeth and some of the paint came off and the dress wasn't that pretty. This is a good toy for a quiet pastime.
