Review on ๐Ÿ”’ New York Lock M-18WL with Kryptonite 994589 by Carlos Abood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Real Castle Warship

It's not the heaviest Castle (the almost comically large Altor SAF wins that award), but the M-18 is seriously heavy. That makes locking and unlocking a bit clunky, but it's a small price to pay for excellent anti-theft protection and good security. Of course, no random thief is going to hack through this lock, and with a grinder he'll at least fight back. It's basically a big Fahgettaboudit Mini; I need the size because my ebike frame is not as thin as a regular bike. I don't notice the weight when carrying it on my bike. I don't like the dead end scheme it uses; Holding the key in the lock in the open position when opening the lock seems clumsy to me, but as a dead end, it means you can't accidentally leave it unlocked. Once you get used to the lock's weight and how it works, it can be quickly installed on a good bike rack and it certainly looks more authentic than the locks on most other bikes. In the end I like it a lot. Except for the adamantium lock, I'm very comfortable with this on my bike when I'm not at home.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
