Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Improved OXO Good Grips Chef's Mandoline Slicer for Enhanced Performance by Jihye Rivera

Great Slicer - Mandolins

Like most Oxo products, excellent. He has a few things that keep him from getting a perfect 5 star. First, there is a lock-out mark on the blade control dial, but as far as I can see the locked position doesn't lock anything at all. He doesn't hold a blade or do anything else. I wrote oxo about it and got no reply. I also bought a second mandolin but the locking works the same. As for assembly, it's very simple - just fold up the legs and you're done. The blade adjusts well and you can cut paper-thin fries or other vegetables as well as thick wedges. I often use this mandolin when making Italian-style hot dogs and slicing large potato wedges. At the same time, I always cut the potatoes very thinly in half and make homemade potato chips. The included holder has pins that grip the veggies to be cut, allowing you to keep your hands off the sharp blade. Reversible so you can make straight cuts or wavy/waffle cuts. Adjusting the depth of the blade will of course give a different effect, right down to thin slices. One thing I noticed is that this product, which is eggplant, cuts pretty poorly. It just doesn't hold up well, even with the skin and the hard eggplant. Cleaning is easy, wash all parts with a little soapy water, dry and wash the blade and holder separately.
