We used to have problems with rusting metal filters so we switched to rubber filters and have been using them consistently for a number of years. Rubber filters work well and are usually easier to remove than most metal filters, but they get so rough and slimy that a simple wash/clean quickly becomes ineffective and needs to be replaced quite often. We decided to try metal baskets again. and it was the perfect replacement. After months of daily use (and mishandling) they still look and smell like new after a thorough manual cleaning or dishwasher. They look a lot better in the sink than comparable rubber strainers (personal opinion) and have a much lower profile. These metal filters are by no means difficult to remove. I'm so glad we're back to metal; This is a new product in our kitchen sink!
