Years ago I had a cutting board from Singer. Lost while moving, a real tragedy. This thing was thick but flexible, absorbed knife cuts well and healed well, and was made in the USA. Now that product is Alvin. thin, doesn't really heal on its own, and has a chemical odor that dissipates over time. On the plus side, it's cheap and easy. If you're just a casual hobbyist, this board is actually good enough that I'd recommend it. However, if you are more interested in your hobby/work, search online or offline and try to find an old Singer board.
