Heavy Duty for Sewing

I stuffed 100 pieces of cardboard onto this piece with a bone binder and glued my wedding inserts directly onto it. The thing still looks like new! No dents after the process, "scratches" are erased immediately, like dried glue. Fully recommended

Smells like cat pee!

I'll throw this away right now. It stinks so bad it stinks in the room. How I wish I could read critical reviews. If you look at the rating (which I always do) it ranks high, but I can't express how strong this board smells. I didn't know there was a cancer warning. I don't know why Revain, a trustworthy company, would wear something like this. I am extremely disappointed.

Great Value Sewing

I bought one of those Alvin mats [no hole for hanging] at a hobby store over a decade ago to mount on a wooden cutting board I used for a model building station and needed another mat to hold the enlarge the station. . Alvin matches the invoice price and should work fine. The only negative comment I have to make is why not make the rug without a hanging hole and let the consumer decide if they want to put a hanging hole or not.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!

  • Some bugs

Inexpensive cutting board

Years ago I had a cutting board from Singer. Lost while moving, a real tragedy. This thing was thick but flexible, absorbed knife cuts well and healed well, and was made in the USA. Now that product is Alvin. thin, doesn't really heal on its own, and has a chemical odor that dissipates over time. On the plus side, it's cheap and easy. If you're just a casual hobbyist, this board is actually good enough that I'd recommend it. However, if you are more interested in your hobby/work, search onlineโ€ฆ

Works but has flaws

I've been using this board to cut pictures and other types of paper for over a year. I use an exact knife and I've found that if you want to press hard like me, the knife cuts into the board quite often. Now it has little grooves because I cut out thin strips of board that weren't used. In addition, the board has a strong chemical smell of rubber. It just won't come out. I tried washing it a few times in the first month I got it, but even after all this time it still stinks a bit. I think theโ€ฆ

Perfect flat green and black grid for photos

First off, I'm not using it for editing yet, although I could. This is the perfect background with a green and black grid pattern on each side. This way the cutting board has a clean matte finish with a perfect quarter inch grid shape on an 8x11 inch grid. The cutting board lies flat on my table. I get great photos using this board as a background and people can see a quarter inch grid to relate to any object placed on it. Wow, I didn't even realize until I started writing this review thatโ€ฆ

DO NOT USE HEAT!

I bought this over a year ago and am only now writing this review for various reasons. Firstly this is the best way to find out if you really have a good mat due to the time used and secondly I was going to write about it 3 months after purchase but life happens. I bought a 12x8 rug and it lasted a full year. I noticed that the corner went up a bit BUT I also noticed that it only happens when the heat is directed at the mat. I used a heat gun on one of my crafts as I used my mat as a smallโ€ฆ
