I think the product is a great idea. Your cable lengths are ok. They even give you velcro to attach it to the tank. I have only one problem with the block. I use a humidifier with a humidifier. I also have a misting system to humidify the aquarium about once a week. When the fog system is switched on, the devices detect excessive humidity. The device has "HH" in the humidity range. This is fear. But never switched off. Had to reset the block that reset all my values. If I have to do that every time I turn on the fog system, I'm going insane. This is the only problem I have with the device.
