Review on AP Products Illuminated Assist Handle (0055300L) by Jeremy Byard

AP Products (0055300L) Illuminated Auxiliary Grip

Upon inspecting my new shiny grip, I noticed a small defect in the chrome on one side, but was able to place it so that the defect was not very visible. The acrylic pencil wasn't entirely perfect, but it was perfectly acceptable. Overall size is 17 inches (despite Amazon's specs showing it's 21.1 x 18.3 x 10.6 inches - where did THAT come from?!?) - I needed a slightly shorter handle so I cut approx 2 inch acrylic off. Part turned out great. The light is a small incandescent bulb held in a small holder in an end light, but I've replaced them with a pair of LEDs (SMD 5050) and it looks fine. 4 stars only because of the (very) small defects in the chrome, but only just under 50 €. Update 24-Dec-14: The SMD 5050 LEDs were too bright. I replaced it with a blue LED and relocated it so it wasn't too bright - I installed the LED by drilling a small flat hole in the end of the handle (plastic/acrylic handle, not the metal end) and add a drop of glue. Another aspect of the very bright 5050s is that the bright white light seems to diffuse more easily inside the handle, making it look like it's filled with smoke. All in all, she looks great now.
