I got my Logan 301 yesterday, I'm used to that. I bought some practice sheets and spent an hour or two on them and now I'm cutting real carpet! It took a little practice but I think it was worth it. The machine is well built and comes with five spare blades. The blades seem to wear out quickly so I've already ordered a pack of 100 replacements. Unlike the reviewer below, I can adjust the depth of the blade with a small screw on the bottom of the cutter. Indeed it is necessary! You need to get the right depth or the cuts won't come out evenly. (I learned it the hard way). I recommend visiting the Logan website and reading their FAQs and troubleshooting tips. They also have a downloadable form showing how to get the most out of a single piece of 32x40 frosted sign. The only downside right now is that it's not possible to directly cut through an entire 32x40 matte sign. Due to the size of the machine, straight cuts are limited to boards no wider than 28 inches, meaning you must use a ruler or T-square to split a full-length mat before beginning mating . He can make rugs from boards this size, but cannot cut them straight. I may start buying 1/4 sheets just for convenience, although they are a bit more expensive. Otherwise, I am very satisfied.
